Camping Safaris

Camping is not only the best way of getting close to Africa, but it could also be the cheapest way to visit the great national parks of East Africa. Joining a budget safari is a great experience by itself!
Simba Campsite Ngorongoro
These safaris are suitable for any person who enjoys camping and or outdoor a
ctivities. Itineraries are of a superb standard and visit all national parks and areas of interest. We use good quality 4x4 land rovers and land cruisers with viewing roof hatches, equipment is carried by a additional car (if number of participating clients requires). Our Safari driver/guides have good knowledge of conservation issues, fauna and flora. Camping trips are accompanied by a Safari cook who prepares 3 delicious meals daily. Camp assistants may be available on certain safaris according to the number of participating clients.

Accommodation is mostly in modern, large two-man tents with a sewn-in ground sheet,with a comfortable foam mattress spread on the ground sheet (clients bring their own sleeping bags ). In some itineraries accommodation can be a combination of camping and simple chalets or bungalows. We use public national parks campsites, which simple sanitary facilities.

Camping Safaris in Tanzania

 
 

Camping in the bush of Tanzania is the quintessential private African safari experience. Just a piece of cloth between you and the African night. A quire of nocturnal birds, insects and distant roaring lions lullabies you to sleep. Sitting around an open camp fire with the southern skies bright over head is the real way of appreciating Africa's magic. There are campsites everywhere and camping facilitates in all our safari itineraries, to any park or wilderness area in Tansania.

Please note that we are specialised in private safaris, only you and your travel partner(s) will be in the Safari vehicle! And we can organise that tour for you for any date! Of course we can also help you with airport transfer and hotel bookings in Arusha, just let us know!

3 days Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1:  Arusha - Ngorongoro
We will pick you from Arusha and transfer you to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After arrival you descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater considered as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls the Ngorongoro Crater has the highest wild animal density worldwide. Among the species are lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. You might expect to see the ‘Big Five’ in one day.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After camp breakfast you return to Ngorongoro Crater for a second game drive at the crater floor. Picnic lunch. In the afternoon you go for a Nature Walk at the Northern Crater Rim of Ngorongoro Crater inhabited by buffaloes, elephants, baboons, monkeys and different species of birds. Escorted by a ranger or Maasai Guide you follow animal paths through dense bush.

Day 1: Arusha - Lake Manyara
We will pick you from Arusha and transfer you to Lake Manyara. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, the park is recognized for its incredible beauty. You can see many game animals such as Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, hippo and others and if  you are lucky the famous tree climbing lions. Lake Manyara is a great bird sanctuary inhabited by many different species of water birds and huge flocks of flamingos.

After breakfast you proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. 4 days Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire

Day 1:Arusha – Lake Manyara
In the morning you’ll drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. This beautiful park with it’s lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees, takes its name from the Maasai word for "euphorbia tirucalli", a bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and a variety of antelope inhabit the park as well as a variety of monkeys and a large population of hippo’s. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits, lazily resting on the branches of an "Acacia tortilis" tree. The birdlife is also abundant with flamingos, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species.

Day 2: Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast you proceed for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After arrival you decent into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. Your Driver/Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals. Late afternoon proceed on your way to Serengeti National Park with game viewing en route.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park
Your Tour starts with the drive to Tarangire, Tanzania's third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to six thousand elephant.

Day 1: Arusha – Ngorongoro
In the morning drive to Ngorongoro Crater. After arrival you will descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater often described as one of the wonders of the world.It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. With a bit of luck the ‘Big Five’ can be spotted during one game drive only.

Day 2: Ngorongoro  - Serengeti
After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park. On the way you will visit a Masai Village to see the traditional life of the most famous tribe of East Africa.  After stopping for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in Serengeti you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive.

Day 3: Serengeti
Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal animals returning from hunting and lions awaking in the dawn A full day of game drives around Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species.

Ngorongoro
After breakfast you will descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater considered as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls the Ngorongoro Crater has the highest wild animal density worldwide. Among the species are lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. You might expect to see the ‘Big Five’ in one day.

Day 7:
Tarangire
Your Tour continues with the drive to Tarangire, Tanzania's third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to six thousand elephant.

Day 8:
Tarangire – Arusha
After last early morning game drive you return to Arusha with arrival early afternoon.
