The 'Great Migration' is an ongoing migration cycle that occurs annually, and is made up of around 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 500,000 gazelle. The herds are always on the move, between the Serengeti, Masai Mara and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and we can advise you on the best location for seeing the herds at any time of year.
Seeing the migration in action is a pretty unbelievable sight, and is often described as one of the natural wonders of this world.
Depending on the time of year, you will have the opportunity to see the mass birthing of over 500,000 new wildebeest calves – which are born over a 2-week period – or witness predators such as big cats on the hunt for an easy meal of a vulnerable member of the herd; this is a really amazing sight and an experience never to be forgotten.
If you are interested in seeing the migration in action, whether in the Serengeti (Tanzania) or the Masai Mara (Kenya), then contact us for more information and we will work with you to create a unique and exciting great migration safari package.
